Mortgages For Military Personnel
Buying a house is a long and sometimes difficult process. This can be especially true for military personnel who need a specialist military mortgage. The reason members of the Armed Forces choose Saturday Financial is because we take the hard work away. Traditionally you would have to book multiple appointments with multiple lenders who might not even accept your application. That’s where we help.
During your free initial consultation we listen to your exact needs and requirements. Our job to understand exactly what you’re looking for and the type of home you’re hoping to buy. Armed with this information we speak with lenders on your behalf and come back to you with a full range of options that will enable you to take a step closer to owning your own home.
We’ve been dealing with both standard and military mortgages for a number of years.
Our vast experience means we can help in the following areas:
Forces Help To Buy Scheme
The Forces Help To Buy Scheme was launched in April 2014 to help servicemen and servicewomen get on the property ladder. The scheme enables forces personnel to borrow up to 50% of their salary, interest free to buy their first home or move to another property.
The total amount that you can borrow through the scheme depends on your earnings. The current loan amount is 50% of your annual salary with a maximum loan of £25,000.
Before applying, it’s important to know that there are some rules for using the Forces Help to Buy Scheme. The five key criteria that you must meet include:
You must have served for 2 years
You must have more than 6 months of service left when you apply
The property you wish to buy must be in the UK or the ROI if you are recruited there
You cannot be a reservist or Military Provost Guard
You cannot have drawn any terminal benefits
Applying for the Forces Help to Buy Scheme is quite a simple process. The recommended method is to apply for the loan through the Joint Personnel Administration system. If you require additional advice on applying or wish to know more about the status of your application then you can speak with your Chain of Command and personnel agency.
Once you have applied for the loan you will need to think about applying for a mortgage. We are experts at helping military personnel find personalised mortgage deals that will enable you to buy the home you want.
